December is a really busy month, not only for crafters. However, I thought that it would still be nice to write down some thoughts and memories every day throughout December into a journal. Nothing big, no pressure and with the option to add photos if I wanted to. I'm sharing some ideas on how to decorate the journal pages for the first 5 days in a December journal.

I'm planning to add notes onto the journaling lines at the end of each day. I drew lines with a ruler and a black pen. And I decorated the pages with embellishments from the Noel, Harper, Rebekah and Shay Collection Kits from Felicity Jane. Let's have a look at the pages:

Crate Paper | Snowflake Collection | Nine Special Days in December

[Ad/sponsored] Hello and welcome to a new blog post featuring a Nine Days Christmas Calendar with the Snowflake Collection from Crate Paper. Why nine days? Well, there are three people in our house and I asked my family to select three days in December where they would like to receive a very special and personal message. We've had Xmas calendars filled with chocolate or tea in the past. However, as we are trying to live more minimalistic, I thought that a focus on less is more. In addition, coming up with three very personal things is much easier than coming up with 24.

How to: First, cut three patterned papers (size 6" x 12") for the base. Second, cut three pieces from acetate foil (size approx. 3" x 12"). These will be used as slip-in pockets at the bottom of each calendar page. Third, sew the acetate foil onto the papers with a sewing machine to create pockets. Fourth, punch holes into the calendar pages and add binder rings for the closure.

Fourth, the filling/decoration: Create decorated journaling cards, gift tags, and cute little cards to put into the acetate pockets. I adhered white cardstock onto the back to make room for personal messages.

American Crafts | Willow Collection | Gift Tags

[Ad/sponsored] Hello and welcome to a new gift tags inspiration with the wonderful Willow Collection from 1 Canoe 2 by American Crafts. Earlier this month I shared a post here on my blog with the title "How to create modern place cards". In addition to the place cards I shared in this previous post, I created three gift tags. These work fine as gift tags. However, they can be used as place cards too.

On the first gift tag, I combined the wood leaves from the embellishment pack from Willow Lane with the pretty round Willow copper charms. In addition, I stamped a sentiment from the Willow Stamp Set onto the gift tag with black ink.

The size of the gift tags is 3" x 4" (which is the usual size of journaling cards). I cut the gift tags from different patterned papers from the Willow Collection.

American Crafts | Things I'm grateful for | Mini Album

[Ad/sponsored] Welcome to my blog and a new mini album inspiration 'Things I'm grateful for'. I created a mini album (size 6" x 8") with the She's Magic Collection from Dear Lizzy by American Crafts. For the cover, I chose the paper 'A Simple Hello', because I just LOVE those happy stripes. And I used my number one tool for effortless book binding to bind today's album. Have you checked out the Bookbinding Guide from We R Memory Keepers yet? It's awesome and you can bind journals and small notebooks in no time.

There are a lot of things that I can be grateful for in my life. And I'm particularly grateful for my son. I gathered my favorite photos from his childhood in today's mini album and decorated the pages with embellishments from She's Magic.

How to mini album:

Grab some 12" x 12" patterned papers from the She's Magic Collection and cut them to 8" x 12". Score and fold each paper at 6". The final size of the mini album will be 6" x 8". Stack the papers and punch holes for the binding with the We R Memory Keepers Bookbinding Guide. Next, grab colored string and bind the mini album. Trim off the excess paper on the right side of the mini album.

In a next step, add a title with alpha stickers. And decorate the inner pages with stickers, frames, patterned papers, sewn accents, and journaling.

TIP: Write the journaling onto small pieces of white cardstock - or you can write straight onto the patterned paper.

TIP: Add a variety of sewn accents with a sewing machine.

TIP: You can also pimp your album pages with hand sewn details.

TIP: Confetti pockets are a nice eye-catcher.
