Crate Paper | Scrapbook Layout 'Why I scrapbook'

Crate Paper | Scrapbook Layout 'Why I scrapbook'

I created a scrapbook page about "Why I scrapbook" for one of my monthly Design Team assignments for Crate Paper. After I had finished the layout, I noticed that it's kind of 'mathematical' (and that the 'r' in scrapbooking is missing :) ...). It has triangles, rectangles, and numbers. Instead of sharing how I created the layout, I want to share some thoughts about 'Why I scrapbook'.

I'm sure many people have a true passion in their lives. Some do sports, some love to read, some love to travel, some love to go to the theatre. I love to do all these things. But my main passion is to be creative with paper, and to create my own art. As American writer Kurt Vonnegut puts it: "To practice any art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow. So do it." And that's what I'm doing: helping myself to grow.

I discovered that my way to be creative is to scrapbook, to make cards, and mini albums. Sharing my creativity with the world and inspiring other people to be creative makes me happy. Keeping memories alive with scrapbook pages and mini albums makes me aware of the beauty this life holds. Scrapbooking about small moments, special events, and everyday life is my passion. I would reply to the question "Why I scrapbook?" with three sentences:
  1. Being creative is my way of life. And scrapbooking is my favorite way to be creative.
  2. Because I want to record our family adventures.
  3. To remember the small moments in my life.

American Crafts | Damask Love | Colorfun Planner

American Crafts | Damask Love | Colorfun Planner

Welcome to a new blog post. Today is all about the American Crafts Colorfun Planner Collection by Damask Love. If you like bright and fun colors for your planner projects, then this collection is the right thing for you!! The planners come in different designs. I used the fancy Pink Glitter planner (7966376). It's just the right thing to brighten your days. I picked a pink divider with the mix tape design (6992444). And I added a large sticker 'I'm going places' onto the front. Remember that you can go places even in the present situation. You can always travel in your mind and remember the places you went to. I also added one of the paper clips with tassels (8327236). The mix tape pattern reminds me of my childhood. Today I'm sharing my monthly overview for March with you.

I decorated the March divider with a large sticky note, and the Rub-On Tap Runners (8327236). They have cute designs: hearts, stipes, and envelopes. The lipstick is a fun ephemera piece that comes with the collection.

To highlight the days, I colored in the little squares with Gel Pens. They have fun colors. And they write really smoothly. Next I added the dates with a black pen.

The stickers, sticky notes and Rub-On Tape Runners from the Colorfun Planner Collection give you plenty of options to decorate your planner.

The paper clips with tassels help you to stay organized. Clip them onto a page to find the current month or a special date you want to remember.

The dividers have cool slip-in pockets to keep little notes, letters, or journaling cards.

American Crafts | Damask Love GRL PWR | Scrapbook Layout

American Crafts | Damask Love GRL PWR | Scrapbook Layout

[Ad/Werbung] Join me for a new fun scrapbook layout. I used the young and stylish GRL PWR Collection by Damask Love. The colors, patterns, and embellishments are bold, fresh, and wild. Just the perfect collection for young girls!! And also for those who are still young at heart ♥. I created an 8.5"x11" scrapbook page with this collection:

For the background, I used a white cardstock paper. Then I fussy cut flowers from the Floral Female paper (356308). The style and colors are amazing! Next, I arranged the flowers around my photo. For the title, I used alphabet stickers from the GRL PWR Project Pad (356303). I just love that some of the alphas have pretty florals. They are perfect in combination with the large fussy-cut flowers

I just had to use the golden flash ephemera piece. It's such a cool embellishment. And the golden Paper Clip (356295) is a nice add-on for the photo too. Did you see the fun sneakers Puffy Stickers (356298)? They add a young and stylish touch to the layout.

Supplies: American Crafts - Damask Love - GRL PWR | Paper Clips (356295), Puffy Stickers (356298), Ephemera (356300), Project Pad with Gold Foil Accents (356303), Floral Female (356308)

Crate Paper | Mini Project | Cards in Minutes

Crate Paper | Mini Project | Cards in Minutes

The cards I'm sharing with you today definitely belong into the category "nice and simple". They are handmade in minutes. They are nice to look at. And they are decorated with simple yet lovely ornaments. All cards have two elements in common: a toothpick (wood) and paper. The first card has a cute embellishment that I fussy-cut from the Critters paper (350998). All you need to do is grab your scissors, choose one of the lovely images, and cut along the outline. Next, adhere the embellishment onto a toothpick with a foam pad. And then glue the 'image on a stick' onto the card base. If you want to, you can add a piece of ephemera. And your card is all done! Isn't it a really simple and lovely card?!

The second card is even easier in the making. Just pick one of the pretty fabric bows from Magical Forest and stick it onto a toothpick. Glue the bow onto the card base and add a chipboard sticker. Done already! That was fast :).

The third card is a bit more tricky than the other cards. But it's still easy to make. It has a lovely pinwheel embellishment:

How to: Cut a square piece of paper (size about 2.5" by 2.5"). Fold the paper two times as shown in the photo below.

Cut along the lines with your scissors (just a bit more than halfway through):

Fold the paper to create a pinwheel as shown here:

Use some glue to attach the ends onto the base of the pinwheel. If you want to, add a sticker for even more fun:

Supplies: Crate Paper Magical Forest | Critters (350998), Wildflower (351003), Discover (351005), Chipboard Stickers with Foil Accents (351011), Fabric Bows (351017), Ephemera Pack (351022)

Crate Paper | Handmade Wooden Stand + Cute Mini Notebook

Crate Paper | Handmade Wooden Stand + Cute Mini Notebook

Welcome to my blog and a new DIY inspiration. This post features a handmade wooden stand and a cute mini notebook. I made the stand with wooden dowels, baker's twine, and glue dots. And I used stickers, a tassel charm, and embellishments from Crate Paper for decoration. I attached the dowels with glue dots and then fastened the dowels with baker's twine. The stand is a nice decorative item to display photos and small paper projects. I also created a mini notebook in a paper pocket. Let's have a look at some photos:

I bought the dowels from a DIY store. It took some trial and error to make the stand, but in the end, I managed to create a firm and stable piece of decoration.

And here is a snapshot of the mini notebook in a pocket:

How to make the notebook: First, I cut a cover from the specialty paper (from the Magical Forest Collection by Crate Paper). It comes with cute golden rainbows. Then I cut blank pages from white paper. Next, I used a stapler to attach these inside pages to the cover. In a last step, I made a pocket with a notch at the top. It's so simple, yet I LOVE it :).

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you like my wooden stand and the cute mini notebook. Wishing you a lovely day, yours Sandra :).

Paper meets Flowers | Paper Pouch with Flowers

Paper meets Flowers | Paper Pouch with Flowers

Welcome to my blog and a new DIY inspiration. It's called Paper meets Flowers. I had some rosettes left over from a recent project I did for Felicityjane Jane (click to see the layout). And I was in the mood to make a cute paper pouch with faux flowers.

I picked some pretty faux flowers from an online shop for floristry supplies. Then I made a plant pouch from paper and tucked the flowers inside. It's a really simple project. Just cut a 12"x12" paper into half (6"x12"). Next, fold this paper at 6" and glue the edges with double-sided tape. Leave the top open to tuck your favorite flowers. Then decorate the pouch with rosettes, pinwheels, and stamped messages. This is such an effortless way to create a decorative table centerpiece or a special gift.

TIP 1: Create hangers for the rosettes and the pinwheels with baker's twine.

TIP 2: Add notes of encouragement with stamp sets. Attach the messages with small paper clips. The Essentials Mini Wide Paper Clips from FJ have the perfect size :).
